Women's SEMINAR SERIES
 Overview

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2000), the savings rate for single women is 1.5% compared to 2.1% for single men. Over 70% of the United State's four million elderly poor people are women; 48% of this group are widows. Women still earn 74 cents for each dollar a man earns. These statistics illustrate why, nine years ago, Monroe Bank created a Women's Seminar Series. With varying quarterly topics ranging from estate planning to investing in stocks and bonds, the series provides an additional channel for women to obtain information regarding financial topics.
